Full conversions & packages

A complete conversion, planned as one van

We convert Volkswagen Transporters into campervans that are practical to live with, from the body preparation you never see through to the systems you use every day. Explore, Escape and Expedition give three clear starting points, and every system in a full conversion can also be fitted as a standalone upgrade.

Not every customer needs a full conversion. The same planning and fitting standards apply whether the work is one system or a complete build. See individual services and upgrades.

Where a conversion starts

Start with how you will use the van

A good campervan should make weekends away easier, longer trips more comfortable and everyday use no harder than it needs to be. The starting point is not how many extras can be fitted, but how the van needs to work for you.

Passenger requirements, bed width, kitchen depth, storage and usable floor space all need to be considered together before the layout is fixed. Agreeing those decisions early produces a cleaner installation and avoids compromises later in the build.

Where you supply your own vehicle, we will look at its wheelbase, roof, existing trim and condition before confirming what can sensibly be fitted.

What a full conversion covers

  • Sound deadening, thermal insulation and interior lining
  • Floor construction, carpet lining and interior trim
  • Bonded windows and glazing
  • Kitchen furniture with cooking, water and refrigeration options
  • Bed and travel-seating system selected for the vehicle and its intended use
  • Pop-top roof, where fitted, installed to the manufacturer's requirements
  • Leisure electrical system, charging, lighting and monitoring
  • Diesel heating and swivel seating options
  • Final checks, habitation check and full handover

Conversion packages

Explore. Escape. Expedition.

Each package is built around the same standards of preparation, workmanship and inspection; the difference is the level of equipment, touring capability and independence you need. The packages are starting points, not rigid bundles — we will help you choose one, then tailor the layout, equipment and finishes around your van and your budget.

How the conversion process works

From enquiry to handover

  1. 01

    Enquiry

We discuss the van, how you intend to use it, your priorities and your budget.

  2. 02

    Quotation

We agree the specification, price and expected programme in writing before work starts.

  3. 03

    Booking

A booking payment secures the agreed workshop slot.

  4. 04

    Build

The conversion is completed in our Stoke-on-Trent workshop, with progress updates, stage photographs and agreed payment stages.

  5. 05

    Handover

Final checks are completed and, for full conversions, Potteries Camper Co arranges a habitation check before handover. The check is carried out by a competent specialist subcontractor and covers the applicable habitation systems fitted to the van, including the gas-hob installation where fitted. The fitted systems are then demonstrated and aftercare is explained before collection. Ongoing habitation checks can also be arranged through Potteries Camper Co.
