Pop-top roofs
More space when parked. Everyday practicality on the road.
A pop-top changes how a campervan works when you arrive. It provides standing headroom through the main living area, improves ventilation and can create an additional sleeping space, while the van remains compact for everyday driving and parking.

Choosing the right roof
Potteries Camper Co supplies and installs pop-top roofs for Volkswagen Transporter conversions, with options from Storm, Skyline, Westdubs and Austops. The right choice depends on the vehicle, roof-bed requirement, canvas and accessory options, budget and how the rest of the conversion is planned.
Rather than treating one roof as the answer for every van, we look at the complete installation. SWB or LWB body length, roof-bed type, canvas design, colour coding, lighting, roof rails and solar requirements can all influence the best option. We will explain the differences and agree the specification before fitting.
For the selected roof, the manufacturer's fitting, reinforcement and component requirements are followed as part of the installation. Availability and fitment depend on the exact vehicle, wheelbase and roof specification.
What a pop-top adds

The roofs we fit
Each manufacturer, on the van
A pop-top can be fitted as a standalone upgrade to a van we have never seen before, or as part of a full conversion. Each roof below is shown fitted, so you can compare the shape, canvas and finish before choosing.

Storm
Storm roofs are a front-elevating design with a low closed profile and a range of roof-bed, canvas and finishing options.
- Front-elevating design
- Upper bed options
- Low travelling profile when closed

Skyline
Skyline offers a range of elevating roofs for Volkswagen T5 and T6 vans, with different roof profiles, opening configurations, canvas and locking options depending on the model selected.
- Front- and rear-elevating options depending on model
- Canvas window and mesh ventilation options
- Good light and airflow in the roof space

Westdubs
Westdubs roofs are known for colour-coded shells and scenic canvas designs, so the roof can be matched to the paintwork or specified as a feature of the van.
- Colour-coded roof shells
- Standard and scenic canvas designs
- Finish matched to the vehicle

Austops
Austops roofs are specified around the roof-bed system, with single-fold and bi-fold bed options, mattress choices and integrated roof lighting for the upper sleeping area.

- Mattress and roof-area finishing options
- Integrated roof lighting
Photographs show the roof type and finish being described. Availability and fitment depend on the exact vehicle, wheelbase and roof specification.
Upper beds and sleeping space
For many customers, the upper bed is one of the main reasons for fitting a pop-top. Depending on the selected roof and vehicle, options can include:
- Single-fold roof beds
- Bi-fold roof beds for increased headroom when raised
- Mattress and roof-area finishing options
Where the selected roof and bed system are suitable, an upper bed can add useful sleeping capacity without using the main floor area.
Canvas, lighting and accessories
Available options vary by roof manufacturer and model, but can include:
- Standard or scenic canvas choices
- Colour-coded roof shells
- Integrated roof lighting
- Ventilation, mesh and privacy options
- Roof-bed systems, roof rails and solar integration where compatible
Planned with everything below it
A pop-top is part of the conversion, not a bolt-on extra
The roof opening, bed system, insulation, lighting, furniture height, cable routes and solar position all need to work together. Planning those details early produces a cleaner installation and avoids compromises later in the build.
